• Before the scene — setup: place the candle on a stable, non-flammable surface (a ceramic plate or metal tray works well). Lay a protective sheet or towel under your partner to catch wax drips. Have a bowl of water nearby. Dim the room lights and set up the blacklight before lighting the candles — you want the ambiance ready from the first drip.

• Temperature test — always first: before dripping on your partner, test the wax on your own inner forearm to confirm the temperature feels warm but comfortable at your intended drip height. The higher you hold the candle, the cooler the wax lands — start at 12–18" above skin and adjust from there.
